SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES AND RESILIENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR URBAN AND RURAL ECO-SOCIAL TRANSITION
SPROUT (Sustainable Practices and Resilient Opportunities for Urban and Rural Eco-social Transition) is an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership that aims to empower young people to become active leaders in addressing the climate crisis. Bringing together organisations from Spain, Iceland and Romania, the project combines participatory methodologies, creativity and international cooperation to help young people explore the environmental challenges affecting their communities, recover valuable local knowledge and develop innovative solutions for a more sustainable future.
Over the course of the project, young people, youth workers and local organisations will work together in a shared learning process that combines science, community participation and creative expression, transforming ideas into meaningful local and European action.

Partners
SPROUT brings together five organisations from Spain, Iceland and Romania with extensive experience in youth work, community development and non-formal education. By connecting Mediterranean, Sub-Arctic and Continental contexts, the partnership creates a unique opportunity to exchange perspectives, compare local realities and develop innovative responses to one shared challenge: climate change.
Red SembrEU is a Spanish non-profit organisation that develops local and European projects in the fields of youth, culture, sustainability and community participation through non-formal education.
Canopia is a non-profit cooperative based in Almedíjar (Spain) that promotes rural development, environmental education and community initiatives connected to nature and sustainability.
Landsbyggðin lifi is an Icelandic NGO working to strengthen rural communities by promoting cooperation, sustainable development and international collaboration across the country.
Asociația Luna și Noi is a Romanian youth organisation that supports young people in rural areas through non-formal education, volunteering and community-based activities.
Asociația Young Initiative is a Romanian educational NGO that develops national and international projects focused on youth participation, non-formal education and organisational development.
Phase 1. Diagnosis and identification of local problems
Every meaningful transformation begins with understanding the reality around us.
During the first phase of SPROUT, participants will explore how climate change is affecting their local communities through participatory methodologies such as the Climate Fresk. Beyond understanding the scientific causes and consequences of climate change, this process will encourage participants to reflect on the different challenges faced by rural and urban areas, as well as by the diverse European regions represented in the project.
The outcome of this phase will be a shared diagnosis of local needs, challenges and opportunities that will guide the following stages of the project.

Phase 2. Identification of best practices and design of innovative climate change solutions
Once the challenges have been identified, it is time to explore possible solutions.
SPROUT combines scientific knowledge with the experience of local communities through methodologies such as Human Libraries, creating opportunities for intergenerational dialogue and the exchange of traditional knowledge related to sustainability and community resilience.
Building on these experiences, young participants will co-create innovative solutions tailored to the needs of their own territories while learning from the realities of other European regions.

Phase 3. Digital animation and mapping solutions
In this phase, young people will learn digital animation techniques that will enable them to transform their ideas into short audiovisual productions capable of inspiring other communities and raising awareness about climate action.
Creativity becomes a powerful tool for communication, participation and social impact, allowing participants to share their visions for a more sustainable future with audiences beyond the project itself.

Phase 4. Communication and dissemination
Knowledge creates greater impact when it is shared.
The final phase of SPROUT focuses on collecting the experiences, methodologies and lessons learned throughout the project and transforming them into open educational guide that can be adapted and replicated by other organisations across Europe.
Alongside the methodological guide, the project will disseminate its main outcomes through local events, online resources and international communication activities, encouraging more young people and youth organisations to engage in climate action.
